One of my favourite images of my favourite model Gisele Bundchen has been recreated by Alex Guofeng Cao. He creates large-scale portraits of society’s icons by recreating recognizable photographs or paintings using thousands of smaller images, resulting in a pixelated and repetitive surface. He is most intrigued by the relationship between the small photos and the larger image—creating a type of dual portrait, as seen here in Gisele vs Brady, after Irving Penn’s Gisele, New York, April 1, 1999.
Anyone fancy buying me a signed and numbered copy for £10,000?
