I love these photos by photographer, Desiree Mattsson. They are beautiful and very very sexy!
“I have for as long as I remember felt happiness while watching photos.
The first photo I remember was Peter Lindbergh’s picture of Kara Young from 1984. Her eyes, her expression, slick hair and the perspective he had of her. It was like he captured something I have already seen in my mind or in a dream, I loved it. I could relate to this girl.
When I had my 8 birthday I got a analogue camera as a present. I enjoyed this very much, and did photos mostly of my family and nature.
Later I still got drawn to photographers with an analogue style, this of course lead me to several amazing photographers. To mention some of them: Lillian Bassman, Peter Lindbergh, Guy Bourdin, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Horst, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, I could go on and on with this list of fantastic people.
What I always have seen great photographers do visa the average ones, is that they can photograph anyone and capture their beauty. If you are good, you don’t need the most beautiful face on the planet. Whom is to decide what beauty is? Beauty is everywhere and with anyone. There will never be amazing photos if you only focus on light, model or the right set up. This is something Lillian Bassman said:
“We didn’t have music, but I danced. I danced in front of the camera. When I was shooting, the whole world disappeared.”And this is what I see in her photos, she captured the things she liked, not the things she thought anyone else would like or wanted to see. I have enormous respect for her as a woman, person and as a photographer.
The things that inspire me the most, are light, shadows and shapes. Shapes in every kind of situations, architecture, nature, sea and people. People can be so inspiring by only looking at you once. Their eyes, expression, clothes, the way they move, their hands. It’s all very beautiful.I like simplicity, I like it stripped down so I see what the truth is. I don’t need tons of styling or jewellery to do a photo, I need a real person.
Even though I love doing fashion, I like to call it fashion-portraits. Portraits are absolutely my favourite thing to do. It’s then you really get to capture the feelings people have in front of you. They are there, with you, and they let you capture their faces, but you really want more. You want their trust and their inner thoughts. That is the most beautiful thing with all people. When they show you their true feelings.I feel my photos are based on my own feelings too, especially the fashion-portraits. They are dark, sensual and I see I choose the photos that are more mysterious than the others. It’s all about feelings.”
