28th September 2014 | Flora

Canadian poster for Cannes Film Festival Palme D’Or winning ‘Blue Is The Warmest Colour’ directed by Abdellatif Kechiche (France, 2013).

The poster designer is Karine Savard.

This is a film I’ve watched for my article for Issue Two of The Quite Delightful Project,  ‘Sex In Cinema’.

Model Hanne Gaby Odiele photographed by Pierre Debusschere for the cover of what is always one of the more interesting of the many fashion periodicals.

The issue, which will be published March 3rd, features an interview with choreographer Benjamin Millepied, with whom Van Herpen collaborated on ballet costumes; and an essay by Costume Institute curator Harold Koda about the upcoming Charles James retrospective.

New York Times Best Book Covers

22nd December 2013 | Flora

The New York Times feature what they consider to be the best book covers of 2013 – to be honest, I don’t think it’s the greatest list, but I shall show you eight of the twelve selected here:

Heaven’s Gate

9th December 2013 | Flora

When the movie Heaven’s Gate was first released it was slated in so many different ways; one of the most memorable was that it’s lead actress, Isabelle Huppert, had a face like a potato.

Anyway, the film’s gone on to be revered today as perhaps the greatest Western ever made and to celebrate the release of a fully restored cut on DVD, let’s enjoy the reality that was ‘potato-face’.

Helmut Newton

You can always rely on the master for something a little more suggestive.

Here’s Helmut Newton’s photograph of ‘Roselyne Behind Fence‘, shot in Arcangues, France in 1975.
